Tonight At Golden

It's a good time to be in Chicago! All artists come out of the wood work. Aside from the fun and inspiring Art Chicago, galleries and music venues all over will be hosting people and events. Tonight in particular is very exciting. Photographer Jessica Labatte will be showing at Golden Gallery in Lakeview from 7-10. We highly recommend attending this event, or at least visiting her site.

The opening reception and catalog release takes place on Friday, April 30, 7 – 10pm. The 48-page catalog features an essay by Shannon Stratton (threewalls) and highlights Labatte’s work from 2008 – 2010.

Labatte's photographs are formalist explorations of everyday objects and materials that engage the subjectivity and experiential qualities of matter.

Her juxtapositions of content, form, and color imbue dynamism into the still life tradition in their ability to place a still object into a state of becoming.

Ice Queens

Come check out ESPP's first show, which will include current and unreleased prints by Barnaby Whitfield, Christopher Reiger, Alison Wheeler, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Hilshorst, Noah Scalin, Judith Hoffman, John Vilhauer, Matt Adrian, Jerstin Crosby and ESPP Founders Molly Schafer & Jenny Kendler.

The gallery space is also shared with an installation by collaborators Linsey Burritt and Jenny Kendler -- an ice cave constructed of meticulously folded origami forms. Secret portals allow one to to peer into the cave's dream-like interiors, through the snow-frosted exterior gallery window or hand-crafted golden telescopes.

Come see the Endangered Species Print Project in person, and purchase ESPP prints at a special discounted price. As always, 100% of print sales go towards conservation!

Rabbit's Moon

Beyond the Valley Of the Dolls necklace (sold 1 of 2)

This month Aragon Ltd participated in it's first, and successful trunk show at Chicago's Dovetail. Dovetail offers a lovely selection of mens and women's clothing and accessories, along with a small collection of new Chicago designers. To kick off the trunk show we did a window installation inspired by avant film director Kenneth Anger's amazing piece: Rabbit's moon. We named our first collection "Rabbit's Moon". We feel the name really compliments the use of materials, and ideas we developed for our first season. The window comes down in TWO weeks, so be sure to check it out while you can! Also, be sure to check out the remanning items this weekend at the Bess and Loie pop-up shop in Lincoln Park! Hurry while supplies last.
